* In the Manga
A lighthearted, courageous man who's highly skilled with a gun, on a practically supernatural level. He works as a sweeper with his partner Sven. He seems to enjoy tormenting him and tightening their already small budget as low-paid sweepers, as it is shown, for example, by his exaggerated food consumption. Some of Train's distinguishing features are his spikey brown ruffled hair, his catlike slitted eyes, a choker with a tiny bell attached to it, and the XIII tattoo he has on his chest. He has low alcohol tolerance, but loves to drink milk. His nickname is "Black Cat", and was given to him when he was still working as an assassin in Chronos. His weapon-of-choice is Hades, an ornate black revolver with a matching XIII engraved into its side. He received this gun when he entered Chronos, and still uses it. He is also skilled at disguises, can sleep anywhere even inside a cramped porcelain vase and tends to be clueless about most other important things, for instance he couldn't remember what he originally looked like after turning into a child and gets bored of reading after the contents page.
In the past, he was once a bitter, emotionless assassin, but after he met Minatsuki Saya, he began to loosen up and was moved by her freedom as a sweeper. His partner in Chronos, Creed Diskence, was not pleased by this change in Train, and killed Saya. Train afterwards left the Chronos in order to be an independent sweeper in the memory of Saya, and later on joined with Sven Vollfied as his partner. Once Creed appears, Train decides to capture him, not as an assassin seeking revenge, but as a sweeper. Following his incident of being reverted to a child due to Doctor's Lucifer nanomachine, Train becomes able to charge his Hades with his body's cell energy to make a regular bullet much faster and more powerful; enough to actually pierce an alloy plate. Hades is then compared to one of the scientific-research supersonic-speed-shooting guns, no more no less than a "Rail Gun". He also has a few melee moves he uses with Hades, which he uses when he wants to defeat Shiki at Clarken Island, when he realizes that he trusts too much in Tao, so he decides to try to make Shiki realize Tao's not a "Perfect" technique, so he shoots his third Rail Gun shot at the air (He only could shoot three per day if he wanted the Rail Gun energy circle to renovate normally), saying that he doesn't even need the Rail Gun to beat Tao. He beats Creed by shooting his ultimate Rail Gun shot with all his mental energy focused on the gun, in combination with a burst bullet. The resulting shot is so powerful, it shatters Creed's sword, as well as destroying Hades. Some years later, Hades's repaired and good as new for Train to use, shown in the ending.
* In the Anime (Seiyu: Kondo Takashi)
In the anime version of Black Cat, Train's overall personality remained unchanged, but certain events are different. For example, Train and Sven met before the death of Saya, and conflicted against one another as they received the same target for their respective jobs of Eraser and Sweeper. Train's bell choker was actually given to him by Eve who read an old fable believing that the bell would change him into a "good cat". Also worth noting is the fact that Sven referred to Train as a "kid" during their first meeting. This could imply that Train in the anime is younger than 23. He does appear slightly younger, but that could be the difference in art style. In the Anime, Train's transformation through Lucifer wasn't even intentional once again but instead the Doctor meant to hit Kyoko rather than Creed trying to shot Sven, and he doesn't need Dr. Tearju's help to return back, as she doesn't even show up in that part of the anime. Train doesn't beat Creed using the Rail Gun, as he doesn't even acquire that skill in the Anime, but by using an Orichalcon Bullet Sephiria told him to use, to unleash "Hades's true power". When the Eden plot takes place, Train goes along with Sven to save Eve, and ends up meeting Zaguine's "ghost", while Sven aimlessly tries to save Eve. Train's the one who fires the crucial shot that hits the flower that is imprisoning Eve right in its stem, freeing Eve from Eden. After that, he travels the world as a stray.

* In the Manga
Sven is a veteran sweeper, who takes the role of a mature figure in the manga. He follows a strict "gentlemen" code; he is always respectful to women and children and acts very proper. He is often tortured by Train's capricious personality and is usually dragged into trouble (and debt) because of it. He also has quite a close relationship with Eve.
Sven is also skilled in inventing and making innovative weapons and other various equipment. This includes bombs and special bullets for Train. Sven's weapon of choice was originally a normal pistol, but after that was destroyed, he invented a suitcase equipped with hidden weaponry inside of it. He occasionally uses his eye of foresight, which is usually covered by his black eyepatch. It allows him to see a few seconds in the future and proves convenient sometimes. However, it drains much of his physical energy.
In the past, Sven was originally an IBI (International Bureau of Investigation) detective (Source: Volume 4). His partner and friend was Lloyd Goldwyn, who had the ability of clarvoyance. Lloyd died by saving Sven from a gang of drug dealers, as it was Lloyd's daughter's birthday and Sven tried to go alone, but Lloyd foresaw Sven's danger and showed up to save him, getting shot in the process. Before he died though, Lloyd donated his right eye to Sven, whose eye was ruined by being hit by a wrench. This is how Sven received his foresight ability, called Vision Eye.
The Vision Eye allows Sven to see a time range from seconds to minutes in the future, and consumes much energy, making Sven have to rest every time he uses it. On the final part of the manga, right before the attack on Clarken Island, Sven develops his Vision Eye into a new skill, not related to Lloyd, but belonging to his pure personal vision of things, which is Grasper Eye. This ability not only lets Sven use it during more time, and consuming less energy, but also means a great change: Sven can not only see the future, but also alter it.
* In the Anime (Seiyu: Fujiwara Keiji)
Likewise with Train, Sven's backstory remained more or less the same. However he appears to be the main comedic relief in the Anime. Also, Sven never went through intensive training before the assault on Clarken Island, and as such his Vision Eye never became the Grasper Eye. Sven is also many times referred to as "old man", even though he's only 30. This might result from his attitude of a gentleman which practically turns him into the most careful of the show's characters. Sven, together with Train, saves Eve, and in the end he decides to raise Eve like her "daughter". When Eve tells Sven if he's going to look for Train, he replies that he doesn't need to, as he's a stray cat, and they'll eventually meet.
The comic relief treatment given to Sven may be a nod to Fujiwara's tendency to voice comic roles, e.g. Maes Hughes in Full Metal Alchemist and Reno in Advent Children.
